Ladies and Doubles underway at Music City

The main event at the 16th Annual Music City Open is down to 16 players with four on the winners side and 12 already working with one loss.

The winners side is down to Derby City 9-Ball Champion Shannon Daulton vs Cliff Joyner and Shawn Putnam (pictured) vs Gabe Owen. Top players still playing on the one loss side include Troy Frank, Marcus Chamat, Scott Frost, Johnny Archer, Max Eberle and Jose Parica.

The ladies division got underway early Friday evening with 25 players including Helena Thornfeldt and Monica Webb who have battled it out in the finals of this event the last two years. Webb won the event last year while Thornfeldt won it the year before. Other top players in the ladies division include Belinda Campos, Nicole Mancini and Nesli O'Hare.

The Scotch Doubles event also got underway on Friday night with twelve teams playing for the $1800 first prize. Last years winning team of Barry Emerson and Monica Webb caught a bye in the first round and will play the team of Marcus Chamat and Helena Thornfeldt on Saturday. Chamat and Thornfeldt won the scotch doubles event two years ago. In other scotch doubles action, the team of Jeff Beckley and Nesli O'Hare came back from a 0-4 deficit to win five games and defeat the team of Scott Frost and Belinda Campos 5-4. The team of Nick and Toni Varner also came back in their match against Billy 'The Kid' Lanna and Nicole Mancini. The Varner's trailed 2-4, only to win three straight and score the 5-4 victory.
