Amanda Lampert took two out of three from Orietta Strickland at the Texas Open Ladies event on the weekend of September 5-7 to capture her second straight Texas Open title. The $800-added ladies event drew 23 entrants to G-Cue Billiards in Round Rock, TX.

Lampert's first meeting with Strickland came in the hot seat match, after Lampert had sent Ashley Nandrasy west 7-5 and Strickland had defeated Julia Rapp in a hill-hill match. Lampert sent Strickland to the semifinals 7-4 and waited for her return.

On the one-loss side, Kim Pierce was working her way back to a semifinal showdown versus Strickland. She defeated Lisa Kirkman 7-4 and shutout Kim Sanders to meet Rapp. Melinda Bailey advanced past Jennifer Kraber 7-3 and Helen Hayes 7-2 to pick up Nandrasy. Nandrasy advanced to the quarterfinals with a hill-hill win over Bailey, as Pierce defeated Rapp 7-5. Pierce got into the semifinals versus Strickland with a 7-4 win over Nandrasy.

Strickland earned her second shot against Lampert with a 7-5 win over Pierce in the semifinals and used some of that momentum to take the opening set of the true double elimination final 7-3. Lampert roared back in the second set to win it 7-2, capturing top honors in the event for the second year in a row.
