The 2009 NCS 9 and 10-Ball back to back National Championships are coming up September 3-7, 2009. The two events being held in the stunning ballroom at the Golden Nugget and streamed live by The Action Report (TAR) are the third and fourth national events of the new National Championship Series (NCS) division started by CueSports International in late 2008. In order to play on the national level at any NCS event, players must participate in area qualifiers at local host pool rooms. The second half of August still has several opportunities around the country for players to secure a spot and two additional dates and locations were recently added.

Golden Fleece Billiards in Kenmore, Washington will be holding a 9-Ball qualifier August 15 and a 10-Ball qualifier August 16. Golden Fleece is adding $500 per day and two players on each day will qualify, two for 9-Ball and two for 10-Ball. The last opportunity in the country to qualify for the NCS national events will take place at Pool Sharks in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pool Sharks will host a 9-Ball qualifier Saturday, August 29th and a 10-Ball qualifier Sunday, August 30th. Below are details about each set of qualifiers:

The NCS 9 and 10-Ball National Championships are a rare opportunity to potentially win two national events in one 5 day period. The max field for each tournament is 64 and (based on full field), the prize fund for each is $32,000. Additionally, the top two players in both the NCS 9-Ball and NCS 10-Ball National Championships will receive paid entry (value $550 each) to the newly announced 2010 U.S Open 10-Ball Championship. The $25,000 added U.S Open 10-Ball Championship will take place May 2010 on 9' Diamond tables in conjunction with 2010 BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships. This new event is also a sanctioned BCA points event and will be limited to 96 players.

The NCS is open to all players who are either U.S citizens or permanent residents. The U.S has never had a series of this kind, where players from all over the country, amateur and professional can participate by entering a local qualifier at a lower entry rate ($40-$60) then move on to possibly win a national championship. The NCS does not require membership to any particular league or organization and does not have any membership fee.
