Lisa Marr had been a
bridesmaid all season and was yearning for that coveted win and she did
so with great play and strong attitude throughout this tournament. She
was tested right off the bat against her opening opponent - none other
than Iris Ranola, fresh from her 2nd place finish at the WPBA U.S. Open
two weeks earlier. Lisa came out on top of that close match 7-6. Lisa
then beat the always tough opponents Terry Petrosino and Bonnie Plowman
(both 7-5) to secure her stop on the winner's side on Sunday. Lisa
kept her streak alive by besting board member Melinda Bailey to zero
and then Tour Champion Heather Lloyd 7-4 for the hot seat. Heather
would defeat Bonnie Plowman 7-6 for another chance at Lisa, but Lisa
would swiftly take the final match 7-3 and earn $750 for her first
place! Heather earned $535 for 2nd, Bonnie earned $335 for 3rd and
Ricki Lee Casper earned $235 for 4th place. Bonnie also won the WPBA
Qualifier for the Pacific Coast Classic in October in Oregon by
defeating Iris Ranola 7-5 earlier on Sunday.
Congrat's to all the players, including Michelle Yim who had her highest finish yet with 5th place and also to Becky Jones who had her highest finish yet with 9th place!!
