Local Pool League Teams up with Charlotte Billiard Superstar

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (December 19, 2007) — The Charlotte Metro APA Pool League is proud to announce an official sponsorship agreement has been reached with United Kingdom native Kelly Fisher. Fisher currently ranks #5 on the Women's Professional Billiard Association's (WPBA) Tour and resides in the Charlotte area.

Local APA League members will have the opportunity to learn from one of the top pool players in the world. New APA teams will receive a free lesson from Fisher simply for joining the Charlotte Metro APA Pool League.

“Kelly is one of the best up-and-coming young players in the game. Because she now lives right here in Charlotte, we felt this sponsorship partnership was a great fit that could benefit the entire community,” said Charlotte Metro League Operator KT Thompson.

Fisher came to the United States from England in late 2004 and quickly made a name for herself on the women's profession tour by winning her first tournament in San Diego in April 2005. She has since made numerous appearances on the ESPN networks.

Over 5,000 local residents compete in the Charlotte Metro APA Pool League. More than 600 teams compete weekly at pool halls and taverns through out the area.

The APA, based in Lake Saint Louis, Mo., sanctions the world's largest amateur pool league, known as the APA Pool League throughout the United States, and as the Canadian Pool League in Canada. More than 265,000 members compete in weekly 8-Ball and 9Ball league play. The APA is generally recognized as the Governing Body of Amateur Pool, having established the official rules, championships, formats and handicap systems for the sport of amateur billiards.

The APA produces three major tournaments each year—the APA National Team Championships, the APA National Singles Championships and the U.S. Amateur Championships—that, together, pay out nearly $1.5 Million in cash and prizes annually!

The APA and its championships are sponsored by Cuetec Cues, Aramith Billiard Balls, Valley Teflon Ultra Cloth by Championship and Valley Tables.
