Marlowe Makes a Comeback Win in Lake Michigan

Josh Marlowe took the title at the Fury Lake Michigan Amateur 9-Ball tour's June 4th event held at the Ball Joint in Battle Creek. Marlowe made his way into the finals with a strong tournament comeback after losing his second round match to last stop's winner, Tom Stathis Jr.

After defeating Marlowe in the early rounds, Stathis ran to the hot seat match to meet Ted Reeves for a hill-hill showdown. Stathis took the chair with a 7-6 win and sent Reeves left to meet with Marlowe who had taken care of the B-side. Marlowe made his way to the semis with wins over Colin Frazer and Bo Connell followed by back to back hill-hill wins over Ned Noon and Neil Dryfhout. Marlowe was all warmed-up by the time he met Reeves in the semis and took the match 5-3 to get another shot at Stathis in the finals.

Stathis started in the lead with a quick 2-0 in the race to nine finals but Marlowe tied it up with two games of his own, 2-2. Stathis then took another charge to go up 4-2 but Marlowe again brought up the score to 4-4. At this point, Marlowe was the one to swing the score in his favor as he jumped out to a 7-4 lead over Stathis. Stathis was able to put another two games on his scorecard and get it close at 7-6, but Marlowe continued to dominate and took the finals 9-6 for first place.
