Mollie Pearl Wins Fast Eddie’s Season Finale!

Kyu Yi, Sue Doyle (Olhausen), Mollie Pearl and the Fast Eddie’s Ladies

The ladies came out in force for the Fast Eddie's Olhausen 9 Ball Tour Sponsored by Schuler Legacy Cues 2005 Season Finale on Sunday, December 4th. It was very exciting as Olhausen Billiards donated one of their beautiful Eclipse pool tables to be given away to one qualified player in either the open or ladies division. Schuler Legacy Cues donated one of their creations to be raffled with the proceeds going to the add on monies for both divisions.

The talent ran deep into the field and the action was fierce for the 'Queen of the Hill' honors as top picks were Amanda Lampert, Heather Pulford Lloyd, Kyu Yi, Helen Hayes and Michelle Cortez.

Filling out the 5-6th positions were Melinda Hinojosa of Dallas and Heather Pulford Lloyd. Good shooting, ladies, and congratulations to Heather on her recent marriage to another good player and great guy, Adrian Lloyd!

The 4th place position went to the always tough Michelle Cortez of Austin. She showed a big heart and a lot of endurance after a first round loss to Kim Mills. From the left side, Michelle had victories over Letty Mendosa, Sherri Smith, Kawania Watson, Amanda Lampert and Heather before succumbing to Helen Hayes to jump into 4th place.

Helen Hayes of San Antonio, a recent transplant from Aggieland's College Station, started out with victories over Melissa Andrade and Kawania Watson before being sent to the other side by her friend, Kyu Yi. Once there, Helen went to work with wins over Melinda Hinojosa and Michelle to grab the third place spot.

Mollie Pearl of San Antonio via Minnesota is a scrapper from the word "go" with a big heart and a "no quit" attitude. Mollie jumped into the hot seat with wins over Diana Cardona, Shayla Neris, Heather Pulford Lloyd and Kyu Yi.

Kyu Yi, winner of the Tour's October event in San Antonio, looked as though she would do it again as she started with wins over Sophie Lopez, Kim Pierce and Helen Hayes only to be derailed in the finals for the hot seat by Mollie Pearl. Kyu, then, defeated Helen in the finals of the one loss side to face Mollie again in the finals.

In the finals, both ladies came out fighting with Kyu getting the upper hand in the first set with a score of 7-3. Kyu conceded the second set to Mollie as both ladies along with Audra, Kawania, Helen and Sophie had to make an early exit after a long day to make it to a final league match in order to qualify for the BCA Nationals.

Before the money rounds started, we took a break in the action for the award's ceremony and the drawing for the Olhausen pool table. The award for "2005 Lady Player of the Year" went to Amanda Lampert.

Helen Hayes took the award for "Best Participation". Also recognized were the Tour's sponsors Olhausen Billiards and Ray Schuler Legacy Cues along with Ron Geyer of The Custom Cue Connection, Jack and Elvie Kompan of Mystick Cues, Schonne of Cue Sales & Service, Tino Lopez of Teodora's Mini-Tacos, Joe Salazar of The Connoisseur of Custom Cues, Martin Salinas of Alamo City Couriers, Robby Timms of Cues, Inc. and new sponsor of the Tour, Royce Bunnell of OB-1 Cue Shafts. Great people, one and all!

Sue Doyle of Olhausen Billiards made the trip from Olhausen's home of Poway, California to enjoy pool "Texas style" for the Season Finale. Joining Sue was Richard Sauer of The Billiard Factory, the South Texas distributor for Olhausen tables and products. Olhausen has donated a beautiful Eclipse Pool each year for the Season Finale. Sue drew the winning ticket, which was won by Kawania Watson of San Antonio. Thank you, Sue and Olhausen Billiards, as you again prove you are "THE BEST IN BILLIARDS"!
