Nevel, Binion and Jones end Midwest Expo With Wins

Larry Nevel

The Midwest Billiard Expo is complete with some returning champions and some new champions.

The Pro 9-Ball event came down to Larry Nevel and Marco Marquez on the winners side. Nevel took the hot-seat over Marquez, but the two players squared off again after a Marquez win over Shannon Daulton. Marquez stayed close to Nevel the entire final set, but in the end it was Nevel's crushing break that gave him the advantage and led to an 11-5 win for Nevel. Nevel earned $2800 for first, while Marquez settled for $1700. Daulton and Corey Deuel filled out the top four spots.

In the open 8-ball division, John Binion bounced back from the one-loss side to defeat Manuel Chau in the finals. Binion won the first set 5-1 and completely dominated the second set for a 5-0 win. Binion won $2400 for first, while Chau settled for $1150 in prize money.

The ladies 8-Ball division saw Tammie Jones successfully defend the title she won last year. Jones won the hot-seat but Amy Ladsko came from the one loss side to win the first set of the finals 5-1. Jones took control of the second set and scored the 5-2 win. Jones earned $1000 plus a trip to the Bahamas, while Ladsko settled for $700.
