Duchess rules in Carolina

Allison Fisher
When Tommy Kennedy holds a stop on his South East Open 9-Ball tour, he is usually a favorite to win the event. The Duchess of Doom, Allison Fisher, usually doesn't pay a visit to one of these events though. That is exactly what happened this weekend at J. Reginald's in Charlotte, North Carolina. As was probably expected, both players went undefeated until they faced each other in the winners bracket finals and it was Kennedy who came out with the win by the score of 9-3.

Fisher bounced back from there with a win over Atlanta's Danny Greer to set up the rematch and the chance to beat Tommy twice for the tournament win. That is exactly what she did as she defeated Kennedy 9-5 and then 9-2 to win the event.

"Wow, she played great. She is one of the strongest players out there and she doesn't have to lose to anybody.", Kennedy commented after the event. Fisher commented, "I'm really delighted. I came in to sharpen up my game and do what Karen is doing and play against the guys. I really didn't think I could beat Tommy twice after he slaughtered me earlier. I just wanted to do my best and after the first set, I was back into the match and thought I could really win. I played very solid and think I deserved the win. A lot of these players aren't really name players but they are all very tough."

Allison pocketed $680 for the win while Kennedy took $500 for second. Danny Greer and Dennis Spears filled out the top 4 spots.
