Meglino goes undefeated through a field of 70 to win Michael Grossman Memorial

In quick races to three, Anthony Meglino went undefeated on Saturday, September 20 to win the Michael Grossman Memorial tournament, held under the auspices of the Tiger Florida Tour. The $500-added event drew 70 entrants to Palm Beach Billiards, owned by Michael Grossman, Senior, whose son passed away unexpectedly, two years ago, as he was locking up the pool room.

Four double elimination brackets were run at the start of the tournament, in A+, A, B and C-class events, out of which emerged a final bracket of 16 players. The advancing players were balanced throughout the classes, based on entrants in each. The A+ tournament with eight players advanced two (Meglino and Raymond Linares). The A-class tournament, with 22 entrants, advanced five, while the B-class tournament (27 entrants) advanced six. The C-class tournament, with 12 players advanced three.

Meglino won four straight single elimination battles, against Justin "Smoky" Jacobs (A), Bob Feldman (B), David Borjas (B) and, in the finals, Chris Filipelli (A).
