G-Force is Double Trouble in NY

Gerda Hofstatter

Gerda 'The G-Force' Hofstatter avenged an earlier loss and came back to beat Dawn Hopkins twice in the finals of The Billiards Workbook NY State 9-Ball Championships held by the J Pechauer Northeast Women's Tour at The Pocket Billiard Lounge in New York.

What the field might have lacked in numbers, it certainly made up in talent with Karen Corr, Hofstatter, Hopkins, Julie Kelly, Kim Shaw and Romana Dokovic in attendance.

Although WPBA #2 ranked Corr was the early favorite, it was Hofstatter who sent Corr to the one-loss side 7-2. Hofstatter then fell to Dawn Hopkins 7-5 for the hot-seat.

If Corr had revenge against Hofstatter on her mind, it was not to be as Gerda cruised to a 7-0 win over Corr on the one-loss side to set up the rematch with Hopkins in the finals.

The first set of the finals saw Hopkins take an early lead, but she unable to close out the set and Hofstatter came back for a 7-5 win. The second set saw Hofstatter continue her great play and roll to a 7-2 victory.

Hofstatter earned $570 for first place, while Hopkins settled for $415 in second place prize money. Corr and Julie Kelly filled out the top four spots.

The JPNEWT tour will be at Hagerstown Billiards in Hagerstown, MD on November 6th - 7th for their next event.
