Archer takes early loss in Atlanta

Johnny Archer was just one of the top players dropping a match on Thursday

With one day of matches complete, the winners side at the 3rd Annual UPA Atlanta Open has definitely lost some of it's top players.

Defending champion Johnny Archer heads up the list of players sent to the left side of the board on day one. But Archer won't be alone there. He was joined by 'Hurricane' Ronnie Wiseman, Tony Robles, Rodney Morris, Santos Sambajon, John Schmidt, Luc Salvas, Corey Deuel and Gabe Owen. Archer was the only one who didn't put up a fight though, as he arrived at Murphy's Brass Rail too late for his match and was forfeited to the one-loss side.

Archer has bounced back with an 11-5 win over Brandon Ashcraft. Also scoring wins on the one-loss side early Friday were Owen and Wiseman who will face each other in the next round.

Marquee matches scheduled for Friday on the winner's side include Mike Davis vs Thorsten Hohmann, Charlie Bryant vs Jeremy Jones and Danny Basavich vs Ralf Souquet.

Online brackets are complete with match results for Thursday and Friday morning.
