Stevie Moore won his second SE Open 9-Ball Tour stop of the season with an 11-9 victory over last week's winner Tommy Kennedy at Mr.Cues II in Atlanta, Ga.
Moore was undefeated and took the hot-seat with a 9-7 win over BJ Ussery. Ussery then lost to Kennedy in another 9-7 match on the one-loss side. Kennedy has lost to Clint McCollum on Saturday and had to fight his way through the one-loss side to get this far.
Kennedy took an early 7-4 lead in the finals, but Moore won five straight games to get ahead 9-7. The players split the next two games for a score of 10-8 with Moore on the hill. Moore came up empty on the break and lost the next game to allow Kennedy to get to 10-9, but Kennedy returned the favor and came up dry on his break. That was all the opening Moore needed as he won the final game.
Moore earned $715 for the win, while Kennedy settled for $500. Ussery and McCollum filled out the top four spots. Jerry Bernard was once again the top junior player and Vicky Rybik was the top female. Each player earned $50.
Tour director Tommy Kennedy expressed his thanks to room owners Richard and Susan Sweet who 'always treat us great'. Kennedy also jokingly expressed his thanks to Atlanta resident Johnny Archer for playing golf this weekend instead of playing in the event. Kennedy was heard jokingly checking into banning Moore from any further events after the loss in the finals.
