Hohmann sets pace at European Pool Championship

Thorsten Hohmann

Day two of the European Pool Championship is complete and the Men's and Women's Straight Pool Divisions are both down to four players each.

The Men's division is down to German Thorsten Hohmann vs Alex Lely from the Netherlands and Sweden's Tom Storm vs German Nicolas Otterman. Hohmann has to be the favorite from here with dominating wins in his last four matches. Hohmann's combined score in his wins over Jakob Lyng, Konstantin Stepanov, Marcus Chamat and Niels Feijen is 500 - 52.

The Women's division will see Austrian youngster Jasmin Ouschan take on Norway's Line Kjorsvik and Diana Stateczny face fellow German Daniela Benz. All four ladies have already experienced a loss in the event, but have been unstoppable since the single elimination round of sixteen began.

The Men's 8-Ball division kicked off on Friday with 111 players competing. Top German stars Ralf Souquet and Oliver Ortmann both won their first round matches with identical 8-1 scores and will face each other in round two.
