Rakin scores another WWR Tour win

A total of 38 players brought their 'A' games to The California Billiard Club in Mountain View California for the first stop on the Western Women's Regional Tour's new season.

As usual, Michelle Rakin was the tournament favorite, and she she went through day one undefeated. Day two didn't start out so bright for Rakin though, as she dropped a 7-2 match to Kim Benson. Benson moved on to play for the hot-seat, which she lost to Eleanor Callado.

Benson made the trip to the one-loss side and found a familar face waiting for her. Rakin was more than happy to get her revenge with a 7-5 victory over Benson. This left Benson in third and Rakin playing Collado in the true double elimination finals.

Rakin came out strong in the first set of the finals and cruised to a 7-1 win to force a second set. The second set was much more competitive with the score staying close until the 4-4 mark when Rakin won three of the next four games for the 7-5 win.

Rakin earned $340 for first place, while Collado settled for $220.

The Western Women's Regional Tour will be at the Broken Rack in Emeryville, CA for their next event on September 10th-11th.
