The Tiger Products Planet Pool Tour was at First Break Cafe in Sterling, VA this weekend with a field of 56 players in the Open 9-Ball division.
Mike Davis and Shawn Putnam were odds on favorites at the tournament's start and they did not disappoint anyone as they both went to the hot-seat match undefeated. Davis came out on top in that match by the score of 9-5 and sent Putnam to the left side of the board where he faced Lee Holt.
Putnam eliminated Holt in third place and earned the right to face off against Davis again in the finals. The time spent in the seat waiting for Putnam seemed to have no effect on Davis and he broke and ran the first three racks of the set before Putnam had a shot. Davis continued the onslaught and took a 7-0 lead before Putnam was able to win a game. Davis cruised to an 11-3 win.
Davis earned $1000 for first place, while Putnam pocketed $600 for second. Holt and Kevin West filled out the top four places.
The women's 9-ball division drew 20 players including Pamela Treadway who had ran through her last four Planet Pool Tour events undefeated. Treadway started with a win over Gwen Dickert and never looked back. She even bounced back from an early 5-1 deficit to Kathy Friend and won the match 7-6. Treadway took the hot-seat with a 7-4 win over Amanda Pasko.
Treadway's opponent in the finals was the same player that she beat in her first match, Gwen Dickert. Dickert had won nine straight matches on the one loss side looking for another shot at Treadway. Unfortunately for Dickert, the rematch with Treadway went the same way the first match did, with Treadway winning 9-3 and extending her unbeaten streak to five tournaments.
Treadway took home $350 for first, with Dickert settling for $220. Amanda Pasko and Kim Sudler filled out the top four spots.
