Wendy Jans completed an undefeated run to win her second consecutive Ladies Spirit Tour event at Anastasia Billiard Room in St. Augustine, FL this weekend.
Jans started the day with a win over Ellen Van Buren followed up by a 7-5 win over tour points leader Tracie Hines. Hines would not get a chance to avenge the loss to Jans as she lost to Jeannie Seaver 7-6 in her next match.
Jans got off to a fast start in the finals and took an early 2-0 lead, but watched Seaver come back and tie the score at 2-2. It was then Jans' turn for a run and she won three games in a row to take a 5-2 lead, but was again forced to sit and watch as Seaver came back with four games in a row to get to the hill at 6-5. Seaver would not be able to get past six though, as Jans won the last two games for the 7-6 win.
Jans earned $700 for first in addition to the WPBA players choice qualiifier for 2006. Seaver took home $450 for second. Tracie Hines and Debbie Schjodt filled out the top four spots. Other finishers of note were 7th place Amanda Snell, 9th place Alex Rodil and 9th place Kelly Coyle. All three of these ladies turned in their highest finishes ever and their first times in the money. Hines 3rd place finish keeps her on top of the tour points list, but Jans is within 20 points of overtaking her.
The Ladies Spirit Tour will be at Wally's Sports & Billiards in Lakeland, FL on October 22nd-23rd for their next event.
