Chen Takes Fast Eddie's Amarillo Stop By Storm

Rain, lighting and sand storms did not slow the action at the brand new Fast Eddie's in Amarillo, Tx. last weekend for the sixth stop on the Fast Eddie's Olhausen 9 Ball Tour sponsored by Ray Schuler Custom Cues.

Top picks were Jui Lung Chen (current point leader), James Davis Sr. (second on the point list), Shane Harvey, Robert Stewart (winner of last month's event in San Antonio), Robert Newkirk, Mickey Provencio, Justin Cone, Jason Alvarez and Anna Kostanian.

The 9-12th placements went to Ray Hansen, Jason Alvarez, Mickey Provencio and Adam King. All played very well.

7-8th went to Joe Don Griffin and Robert Stewart of Waco. Both of these gentlemen's games have improved tremendously over the last year.

Shane Harvey and Anna Kostanian shared the 5-6th positions. Shane works hard of his game and it shows, as he is one of the top West Texas favorites. Anna Kostanian of Albuquerque is a crowd favorite and you ladies on the WPBA had better watch out 'cuz Anna has her sights set on your Tour!

Robert Newkirk of Weatherford jumped into the 4th place position. Robert is a tough competitor with a fun loving style of play always makes him a crowd favorite.

Settling for the 3rd place position was newcomer Justin Cone from Cortez, Co. via Alabama. This young man is a straight shooter with all the right moves. His style of play and demeanor are very reminiscent of the late Johnny 'Ringo' Morro. After losing his first round match to the number one seed, Jui Lung Chen, Justin won eight matches in a row to capture third place. We will be seeing a lot more of this young man.

James 'Bastrop' Davis Sr. and Jui Lung Chen were both skillfully moving through the winner's bracket to meet for the hot seat. These two gentlemen are in a very close race in the Tour's point standings for Player of the Year honors. Their matches are always close with great shot making and safety play and this one was no exception with Chen reigning with a score of 9-7.

After dismissing Justin Cone in the finals of the one loss side, James Davis Sr. was looking for a rematch with Chen. The match looked like a cross between world-class prize fighters and chess players, each jockeying for position for any advantage over the other player. Well, in the end, Chen came out on top with a very close score of 9-7. Congratulations to both these fine gentlemen and let the points battle continue!
