Tiger Tour Hosts 13th Annual US Open Warm-Up Event In Cambridge, MD

The Tiger Tour (formerly the Tiger/Planet Pool Tour) will be hosting the annual US Open Warm-Up Event for the third year running the weekend before the US Open 9-Ball Championships. This event is in its 13th year, and is once again being presented by John Moody, owner of Great Slates in Cambridge, MD and former owner of Break Time Sports Grill & Pub (formerly known as Action Billiards). Moody and the Tiger Tour have been working together to turn the last two years' events into highly successful events, and this year's tournament will bring the same standard of top notch players who have frequented the event in the past. Earl Strickland, Allen Hopkins, last year's winner, Shawn Putnam, Mike Davis, and an undisclosed contingent of Filipino players have committed to be there on Saturday morning, September 23rd. Many pros see this event as an ideal way to get in stroke for the US Open, which takes place just down the road in Chesapeake, Virginia. The US Open starts on Sunday night, September 24th and makes provision for players traveling from Cambridge.

The event is once again limited to 64 players, and at the time of going to press, less than 16 open spots remain. The organizers expect the field to be full or almost full comes Saturday. Play will start at 11 AM, and all entrants must be present or else their spots will be passed on to players on the waiting list. Players still interested in playing in this event can call Nick Prinsloo at (703) 282-0912 to reserve a spot.

About the Tiger Tour

Now in its 7th year, the Tiger Tour continues to set standards as a regional pool tour. Formerly known as the Planet Pool 9-Ball Tour, the tour acquired Tiger Products as title sponsor in June of 2005, at which point the name changed to the Tiger/Planet Pool Tour. Earlier this year the name changed to the Tiger Tour in accordance with their agreement with Tiger Products. The Tiger Tour has in excess of 500 members, and based on participation per event has been the most successful regional tour in America for four years running. Their tournaments consist of both open division events and women's events, and two separate tours, namely the 9-ball tour and and amateur 8-ball tour. The tour is also the joint sole distributor of Z9 Cloth, the official cloth sponsor of the Tiger Tour.

On October 7th and 8th, the Tiger Tour will host the 2006 East Coast Junior 9-Ball Championships for players under 21 alongside a $2,000-added two-day women's event and WPBA qualifier at Bill & Billies in Arnold, MD.
