Benson Tops Pacman Pacquiao 10-Ball Tilt; Receives P70,000

FALCE “Giant Killer” Benson defeated Michael “Fighther” Laguna, 10-4, in the finals to emerge champion in the just concluded Tournament Billiard 10 Balls dubbed as “New Years Tournament Handog ni Manny Pacquiao” to pocket the top prize worth P70,000 plus the championships trophy last Saturday at the Rock In Roll in Billiard Café in Ermita, Mabini, Manila.

Organized by many-time Philippine Trick shot champion Julie “Falcon” Guevarra and Nick Gipana, the knock-out stage format is attracted 107 “panerserra” player in this event sponsored by no less than Filipino boxing hero Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, who was an avid billiard player himself and put up P150,000 total pot prize.

On the way to the finals, Benson defeated Kulot Sukat, Eric Calamba, Jomar Baclaran, Ruel Esquillo and JR Baclaran.

Laguna, who settled for runner-up place and receive P30,000 plus trophy, on the other hand bested Russian Petiza, Romy Del Rosario, Mike Takayama, Edgie Marilao and PJ Marikina.

Other notable pool sharks competed were 2006 Sydney World Junior 5th place Renemar “Revo” David, Edgar “Malabon” Acaba, Rolando “Gabuto” Garcia, Israel “Amay” Rota, Roberto “Bert Pasay” Dy, Taroy Labrador, Johnson Vita, Benjie Guevarra, Totoy Dacer, Boy “Cotabato” Ducanes, Jarry Pelayo and Ruel Esquillo.

The next billiards event is slated on February in hometown of “Pacman” Pacquiao which offers P1 million where the champion getting the lion's share of P300,000 according to organizer Julie “Falcon” Guevarra.
