Hopkins wins NJ State 8-Ball Crown

Dawn Hopkins

Dawn Hopkins came back from the one-loss side to avenge her earlier loss to Liz Schwartzreich and won the NJ State 8-Ball Championships held by the J. Pechauer NorthEast Women's Tour at Castle Billiards in East Rutherford, NJ.

Hopkins lost to Schwartzreich 5-2 for the hot-seat, but defeated Jennifer Barretta 5-3 on the one-loss side to set up the rematch in the finals. Barretta's loss meant that Schwartzreich would win the WPBA Women's US Open qualifier as the highest non touring pro finisher in the event.

The finals were all Hopkins, as she won the extended race to seven match 7-3 to claim first place.

Hopkins pocketed $450 for first, while Schwartzreich settled for $300 and the qualifier. Baretta and Caroline Pao filled out the top four spots.

The JPNEWT tour will be back at Castle Billiards in East Rutherford for another WPBA qualifier on July 12th - 13th.
