Hohmann To Face The Lion for Championship

Thorsten Hohmann shocked the crowd in Cardiff on Saturday as he disposed of last year's runner up Francisco Bustamante 11-10, and then followed that up with an 11-4 win over reigning Champion Earl Strickland.

Hohmann trailed Bustamante 10-6 in the first match, but came back to win five straight games for the 11-10 upset. Hohmann took advantage of Strickland's inability to keep the cue-ball out of the pockets and never trailed on his way to the victory.

Hohmann's opponent in the finals will be 'The Lion' Alex Pagulayan. Pagulayan has put on an exhibition for the fans all week long, as he raced through the group stages undefeated to capture the #1 position going into the final group of 64.

Pagulayan took a close match 11-9 from Sin-Young Park to start play on Saturday, and followed that up with a 11-6 win over Tony Drago to assure his spot in the finals.

The winner of the finals on Sunday will pocket $65,000, while the runner-up will take home $30,000. Strickland and Drago both settled for $17,500 in prize money for third place.
