Dechaine wins Joss NE 9-Ball Tour Event

Mike Dechaine

Mike Zuglan and his Joss NE 9-Ball Tour welcomed a field of 40 players to Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ over the weekend of January 26-27 to compete for the $5200 prize fund.

Mike Dechaine quickly distanced himself from the field in this one, as he went on to defeat WPBA star Karen Corr 9-6 for the hot seat.

On the one loss side, Corr ran into a red hot Bucky Souvanthong. Souvanthong had lost to Dechaine on Saturday, and Corr was his last obstacle before having a chance to revenge against Dechaine.

Corr fell to Souvanthong 9-6, setting up the rematch between Souvanthong and Dechaine in the true double elimination finals.

The first set of the finals was close all the way, with Souvanthong taking the set 9-8 and forcing a second set. The second set started out to be a repeat of the last one with both players tied at 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3. As the match went on, Dechaine slowly pulled ahead and ended up crossing the finish line first at 9-6.

This is the last Joss event before the Turning Stone Classic X on February 21 - 24 at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY. This event is full, but Zuglan is taking names for a waiting list. Interested players should contact Zuglan at 518-356-7163 to have their name added to the list.
