Boston Tony Ruberto wins barnburner!

The Northeast Players Tour traveled to Western Pennsylvania for tour stop # 8. This open 9-ball event attracted twenty-nine players from the Pittsburgh region, the state of Ohio and even Massachusetts. Players who made their mark immediately in the tour were Butch Weimer, Jim White, Justin Daniels, Sy Brown and Jason Nimitz. The tour point leader Phil Sherman was in attendance and extended his point lead to 20 points. Neil MacGregor finishing fourth and was the highest established tour player to cash.

But the talk of this event at Lucky Break Billiards in Indiana, PA was the "new kid" in town. Tony Ruberto from Boston Massachusetts made his presents known in the 9-ball world by defeating Andrew Chusko, Sy Brown, Jim White, Butch Weimer and Jerry Slivka. In the one-loss side final match, Sy Brown from Steubenville Ohio lost a close match to Jerry Slivka from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Score was 6-5 Jerry. The finals showed the resilience and heart from both competitors. Tony Ruberto took an early lead of 6-1. Jerry Slivka battled his way back throughout the set to tie the score 8-8. Unfortunately on Jerry's hill-to-hill break nothing went in and gave Tony Ruberto the closing opportunity for the game and the title.

The Northeast Players Tour would like to thank all the participants and staff at Lucky Break Billiards. Ernie, Gary and Brian from Lucky Break Billiards were gracious hosts and treated the event and players with the utmost respect. Thank You Guys!
