Three National Champions Crowned at Canadian Championships

In snooker Kirk Stevens was crowned the Canadian National Snooker Champion with his 6-2 victory over Tom Finstad.  Kirk Stevens advanced to the final with a 6-1 victory over Jeff Kennedy and Tom Finstad had advanced to the final with a tough fought 6-4 victory over Fern Loyer.  Kirk Stevens will now represent Canada at this year's IBSF World Snooker Championship in Austria at the end of October.   

In the Women's Canadian 8-Ball Championships Naomi Williams emerged as the champion going undefeated throughout the event by besting Veronique Menard 9-1 in the final.  Veronique Menard made it to the final after losing the hot seat match to Williams, with a 7-4 victory over young Brittany Bryant in the lower bracket final.  Brittany Bryant defeated Cathy Metzinger 7-6 to finish third in the event.

In the Canadian Open 8-Ball Championship Felix Beardy was crowned champion.  Beardy earned revenge on Tyler Edey in the final with an 11-8 victory after Edey knocked him to the one-loss side earlier in the tournament.  In the upper bracket final four Alain Martel defeated Jerry Young 9-3 and Tyler Edey bested Jason Klatt 9-6.

In the hot seat match Tyler Edey advanced directly to the final with a 9-5 victory over Alain Martel.  In the one-loss bracket Felix Beardy charged to the final, after his early loss to Tyler Edey, with victories over John Morra 9-4, Peter Thompson 9-6, Jerry Young 9-4, Jason Klatt 9-6 and Alain Martel 9-6.
