JPNEWT Pennsylvania State 9-Ball Championship Day One Ends at Drexeline Billiards

Day one J. Pechauer Custom Cues Northeast Women's 9-Ball Tour 2008 Pennsylvania State 9-Ball Championship has finally come to a end at Drexeline Billiards in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.  The 2009 WPBA U.S. Open qualifier spot is up for grabs and there are plenty of takers in the hunt.

The field began mid-day with thirty-five players, but at the day's closing, only eight remain.  Many notables make the trip to Bob Maidhof's pool room for the weekend and the spectators have been in full force as well, rallying for their favorite players.

Some of the more interesting matches of the day included My-Hahn Lac's victory over Pam (Treadway) Cimarelli on the hill, prior to Lac's 7-0 loss to Julie KellyMorgan Steinman, took a 7-4 beat from Kelly as well, before ending her weekend at the hands of Cimarelli late in the day on the one-loss side 7-4. Megan Minerich was bested by Linda Shea 7-4 on the undefeated side of the charts, then sent home on the hill by Brandi Brown 7-6. Brown also defeated Tina Meraglio 7-5 (Meraglio was halted initially by Corr 7-0 in the third round).  Ming Ng worked her way through three matches before eventually running into Karen Corr starting off strong, but in the end succumbing to Corr 7-4.  Young Briana Miller was sent west by Kim Smith 7-5, but after her win over Carina Lawrence 7-0, she was unable to get past Lac in the end 7-5.

Sunday matches will begin at 11 a.m. with the following set to play:

Undefeated thus far:
Julie Kelly v. Linda Shea
Karen Corr v. Liz Taylor

One-Loss Side:
Ming Ng v. Pam Cimarelli
My-Hahn Lac v. Brandi Brown

The brackets for the event will continue to be updated throughout the day on Sunday to keep onlookers close to the action.  Also, if you are interested in the cue raffle, tickets will continue to be sold throughout Saturday night and Sunday during play – the drawing will take place just prior to the finals.  This cue is a $1200 value custom by Dan DeCola and it is a beauty!  It is projected that the semis will be played at approximately 6 p.m., with finals at 8 p.m. (contact Drexeline for updated times if you plan to attend).
