Leonardo Andam and Shawn Toni Share Turkey Day Limelight at Big Daddy’s (MD)

Recently, Big Daddy's Billiards located at 7954 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. Suite 2-G in Glen Burnie, Maryland, hosted its Thanksgiving 9-Ball open bash (of course, it fell on November 27, 2008).  The $100 added, $30 entry event drew a total field of twenty-six players from around the area.  Included in the field were several quite talented players such as pro Shaun Wilkie, Mad Max, Steve Fleming, Leonardo Andam, Shawn Toni, and many more.

The doors opened at 6 p.m. and everyone had a chance to work off their turkey with practice until 9 p.m. when the event commenced. The night started with match-ups between players such as Leonardo Andam and Frank Wojciechowski (Andam bested his opponent) and Mad Max against tough gun Shaun Wilkie who ultimately prevailed. Another top name in the area, Mike Munoz was defeated by Steve Fleming initially.

As the night continued, Andam continued his run through the field and ultimately stole the hot-seat match to sit it out for a bit until his final round competition appeared - that player ended up being Shawn Toni. Ironically, after Andam's wait, the ending was uneventful as both players decided to split the final prize instead of playing out the finals.

Great play from all involved including the five ladies that threw their names in the hat to try to squash the boys.  Kia Sidbury, Maxine Mead, Jamie Hodges, Nicole Fleming, and Anita Thompson were on-hand and gave it their all – glad to see the women battling it out with the guys after a turkey filled day!

The room welcomes all professional players to its monthly events, as this was the start of them. Stop into Big Daddy's the first Saturday of the month for the same formatted $30 entry tournament with races to five on both sides, alternating breaks.
