Katie Cowan Comes Out On Top Again On Carolina Ladies J. Pechauer Tour

Tournament Director Michael Putnam, Katie Cowan, Rachel Eliazer, and room owner Aaron Frady

It appears that Katie Cowan is taking full advantage of the fact that a new tour has come up in her neck of the woods – the Carolina Ladies J. Pechauer Tour. Two events back, she shared first place honors with NiKKi Hollingsworth due to time constraints, then this past tournament at Grady's, she locked in the win. This weekend was no different, she ran away with the victory.

The Crooked Cue in Waynesville, North Carolina, was the most recent stop for the tour being held on December 6th-7th. The $500 added event drew yet another smaller than anticipated field, but as we all know, getting a tour going can be tough – doing so in a bad economy, well, you get the picture. You ladies down there in the North Carolina need to come out and support your tour or Ms. Cowan will continue running away with the dough. Just teasin Katie, great shooting kiddo!

The field this past weekend included some tough players – Cowan, Rachel Eliazer, Buffy Jolie, Aimee Kilby and Lea Andrews. But it was Cowan that secured the hot-seat match in a nail biter set ending Alicia Putnam's run 9-7, while in the meantime Rachel Eliazer was working her way back through the one-loss side to eventually run into Cowan again (Cowan bested Eliazer earlier in the event 9-7). But, this weekend was to be Cowan's as she toppled Eliazer 9-5 for first place. Congrats to all involved!

The tour has two events scheduled to follow thus far:

Grady's
Lexington, SC
February 21 - 22, 2009
803-957-7665
$750 added

Randolph's Billiards
Hickory, NC
March 7 - 8, 2009
828-326-7005
$500 added

A special thank you to Aaron Frady, owner of The Crooked Cue in Waynesville, North Carolina, for his hospitality and support. Also, to the sponsors that help to keep things running smoothly: J.Pechauer Custom Cues, Strok-In-Style, RST2 International, Bebob Publishing, AZBilliards.com, and Poison Billiards.
