East to Meet West with the NCS

This past weekend two more names were added to the list of qualified players for the NCS 8-Ball Championship. At Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower, California – long considered one of the top poolrooms in southern Cali, 19 players plied their skills to see who would continue to the national level. Elias Valles came out the victor.

On the opposite side of the country in a little town in western Pennsylvania, 21 players descended upon Jordan's Pool Hall to see who would move on to the Las Vegas event in February. Adam Kielar, a strong regular on the Blaze Tour, prevailed and will be adding Vegas to his 2009 travel plans.

In addition to the $32,000 prize fund for the 64 player field, one player will also win the 5th spot to represent the United States at the World Pool and Billiard Association World 8-Ball Championship.

The NCS 8-Ball Championship is a historical event as it will be the first time a player will be awarded one of only 5 spots representing the U.S to the WPA World 8-Ball Championship by winning a U.S national tournament. The other remaining 4 spots will be invites based on the BCA points list.
