Janet Atwell wins Carolina Ladies Pechauer Tour Stop

Janet Atwell, Alicia Putnam and Belinda Calhoun

It was a small field of players at the February 22nd Carolina Ladies J. Pechauer Tour stop at Grady's in Lexington South Carolina, but it was a strong one.

In that field of players were WPBA pros Janet Atwell and Belinda Calhoun along with top amateur players Buffy Jolie and Karen Webb. It was definite that these  players were ready to play because a lot of the matches were close.

Janet Atwell worked her way through the winners bracket to face pro Belinda Calhoun whom she defeated 9-7 in a nail biting match. While Karen Webb and Buffy Jolie played like champs through the losers bracket. Buffy Jolie and Belinda Calhoun went hill-hill to see who faced Janet Atwell for the finals. Belinda Calhoun won 7-6.

As a true double elimination tournament, Belinda had to defeat Janet twice to take the win. After defeating her once 7-6, they both agreed to split the pot. Janet Atwell took 1st place because she was the winner of the winners bracket. The tour is drawing a lot of great players including some pros and top finishing amateur players, just in small volumes at each event.

I would like to say "Thank You" to pool room owner Grady Mathews, manager Matt and all the other staff for such spectacular hospitality and support, these guys sure do make you feel welcome. The equipment was fantastic, beautiful Diamond 9-ft tables and Aramith balls.
