Winters freezes out Petrov for Joss Tour Win

Shane Winters

Shane Winters avenged a late Saturday loss and double dipped Ivaylo Petrov in the finals to win his first ever Joss NE 9-Ball Tour stop at TJ's Classic Billiards in Waterville, ME.

Winters remained undefeated almost all day Saturday, but lost a tough 9-7 decision to Petrov in their last match of the day. Winters would take that loss in stride and come back Sunday morning with a vengeance.

Winters started Sunday with a lopsided 9-2 win to eliminate John Clark and followed that up with a 9-5 win that eliminated Ray MacNamara. A 9-7 win over Nelson Oliviera and then a 9-1 win over Dave Grau earned Winters his spot in the finals and a shot at revenge of Petrov.

The first set of the true double elimination finals was a close one with Winters emerging the 9-7 winner. The second set was a different story altogether as Winters cruised to a 9-1 win and his first tournament win on tour.

Winters earned $1500 for first place, while Petrov settled for $1020 in second place prize money.

The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will be at Trick Shot Billiards & Sports Pub in Clifton Park, NY for their next event next week.
