Jeremy Jones Corrals Lone Star 10-Ball Premier at Q Stix Billliards

Rafael Martinez, Kim White and Jeremy Jones

This past weekend the Lone Star Billiards Tour broke all records with 88 players in the OPEN 10 BALL EVENT, and 21 Women in the Ladies 9-Ball Open Event. It was the best kind of “crazy” at Q Stix Billiards in Houston, Texas as Bobby Rone (Galveston Classic Producer) and his room played host to 109 players and the LSBT's Premier 10-Ball Event & Season Opener. Pro Players Jeremy Jones, Rafael Martinez, and Charlie Bryant, along with tour favorites Sylver Ochoa, Dennis  Strickland, Nick Hood, Andy Jethwa and David Parker showed up to battle it out for almost $8,000 in cash!

Saturday's play began around 3pm winding down to the final 24 to be played on Sunday.  No upsets where the pros were concerned. On Sunday, the action started at 12pm and the final 8 on the winner's side produced Jethwa v. Paker, Aaron Springs v. Martinez, Strickland v. Bryant, and Jones v. Brian Rosenbaum. After one round we were down to Parker, Martinez, Hillbilly, and Jones. Martinez beat Parker 7-5 and Hillbilly v. Jones was a great hill hill match with “Double J” emerging victorious! On the one-loss side, Jethwa bested Springs, and Thweib beat Bayaua 7-6. That pitted Jethwa v. Bryant and Thweib v. Parker.  After one more round of play, it was Bryant v. Thweib on the west side and Martinez v. Jones on the east side. Bryant put away Thweib and Jones beat Martinez. Martinez then eliminated Bryant to face Jones in the final. These two pros traded rack for rack until Double J pulled ahead 6-5 then put Martinez away 7-5 finishing the event undefeated. Congrats to Jeremy Jones on his first tour win, and props to both players for their exceptional play and professionalism at the table. Matches were recorded on our stream for your viewing pleasure!

In our ladies event, 21 women came out to stake their claim in the $500 added event. It was no surprise to find Terry Petrosino and Courtney Peters playing for the hot seat but it was surprising to see newcomers Tasha Salandanan and Loretta Lindgren dueling on the one loss side.  Petrosino beat Peters and Salandanan ousted Lindgren.  The seasoned Peters eliminated Lindgren for a rematch with Petrosino. It was a thrilling hill hill finale with Petrosino finishing undefeated throughout the entire event! Congrats ladies.

Total added money for this stop was $1,600 and it was the best event ever on the Lone Star Billiards Tour! LSBT thanks our host venue Q Stix Billiards and owner Bobby Rone and staff, and our sponsors “Official Cue” Poison Cues, “Official Rack” Delta-13 Rack, and James Barnett.  Special thanks to our Lone Star Staff, Mike Terry (Auction Asst.), Viet Do (Asst. TD), Bob McFerren (Official Referee), and Eugene Lee (Web Tech).
