Compton wins Tiger Southwest 10-Ball Tour stop

One week after finishing third behind Charlie Bryant and Gabe Owen in the Texas Open, Chip Compton went undefeated to take the Tiger Southwest 10-Ball Tour stop on Saturday, Sept. 11. The $1,500-added event drew 44 entrants to Jamaica Joe's in Oklahoma City, OK.

From among the winners' side final four, Compton defeated Shane McMinn 7-5, as Joey Gray sent Tommy Tokoph west by the same score.  Compton got into the hot seat with a 7-4 win over Gray and waited for what turned out to be McMinn's return.

On the one-loss side, McMinn first drew Allen Hanson, who'd defeated both Ryan Robinson and Steve Deason, double hill.  Tokoph picked up Caleb Moore, who'd gotten by Mark Dimmick 7-5, and Harvey Click 7-2 to reach him.  Moving into the first money round, McMinn defeated Hanson, double hill, and Moore eliminated Tokoph 7-4.

McMinn dropped Moore into fourth place 7-5, and then defeated Gray 7-4 in the semifinals. Compton and McMinn then locked horns in a single race to 9 that went double hill, before Compton prevailed to complete his undefeated run.
