Hatch wins in Clifton Park; Ketz begins his own dynasty

Dennis Hatch, owner Tim Berlin and Jeff Smolen

It only took two events, but the Dennis Hatch dominance at the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour is back in swing. Hatch waded through a field of 31 other players on October 9th - 10 at Trick Shot Billiards in Clifton Park, NY for his first win of the new season.

Hatch took the hot seat with a one sided 9-1 win over Chance Chin and waited for his opponent in the double elimination finals.

Chin found Jeff Smolen waiting on the one loss side with revenge on his mind. Smolen had taken the trip to the left side of the board at the hands of Chin 9-7. Smolen would get his revenge and an appointment with Hatch in the finals.

Smolen came out strong in the finals and took the first set 9-6. When the second set of the finals began, Smolen discovered that double dipping Hatch in a Joss Tour event is pretty hard to do. Hatch came out of the gate with a run of five racks to take what would prove to be an insurmountable lead. Hatch would ride that lead to a 9-2 win and yet another Joss NE 9-Ball Tour win.

In the second chance Sunday event, a new Joss Tour dynasty could be starting. Kevin Ketz dropped his first match and then won eight straight matches to win his second event in a row. Ketz defeated Angelo Hilton 3-0 and 3-1 in the finals.

The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will be at Raxx Billiards in West Hempstead, NY on October 30 - 31, for their next event.

Don't forget the Turning Stone Classic XVI taking place December 16th - 19th at The Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY. The event is filling fast.
