All Germans out of European Championship 9-Ball Division

Deminic Jentsch

Tuesday, March 29, 2011: After local hero Sascha Tege lost in the previous round, all German hopes were laying on their top players Ralf Souquet, Oliver Ortmann and Dominic Jentsch. Not a bad team to try and get the title. But strangely they all fell to underdogs in the round of the last 32. Souquet had to unscrew his cue stick after a 3:7 defeat against Serge Das from Belgium. “the Kaiser” seemed to struggle with his break shot this week. Ortmann had a very close match with Austrian youngster Mario He. The match was open until the score was 6:6. Then He won the next three racks and eliminated Ortmann  9:6. Dominic Jentsch had the closest match ... and the biggest surprise. His opponent Nikolaos Malai from Albania was definitely the underdog and was a relative unknown to everyone. But the Albanian managed to overcome the new 8-ball European Champion and seized the match from Jentsch 9:7.
