One Pocket Division Added to Chuck Markulis Memorial Tournament

Hard Times Billiards of Sacramento is pleased to announce the addition of a one pocket event to be held in conjunction with their upcoming Chuck Markulis Memorial Tournament.  Now in its 4th year and held each October, the tournament is dedicated to preserving the memory of former Hard Times owner Chuck Markulis, who passed away in 2007.

According to Chuck's son and current owner Mike Markulis, “The addition of one pocket is just another way to honor my father's legacy and rekindle the spirit of the old Hard Times Jamborees he created in the late 1990's.  One pocket is very popular at Hard Times and we know this is what he would want.”

The festivities begin on Wednesday evening, October 5, with a feature 9 ball mini tournament.  Dubbed the “Vinny Mini” in recognition of long time regular Vince Barretta, this is a single elimination race to 5 event with a 32 player limit.  The entry fee is $20 and Hard Times will add $5 to every entry.  There will be other mini's throughout the evening.

One Pocket begins at 1 PM Thursday, October 6 and ends Friday night.  The field is limited to 64 players.  The format is race to 2, double elimination, with the finals a single race to 4.  The entry fee is $40 and Hard Times will add a minimum of $1000 guaranteed, and $2000 with a full field.

The 9 Ball Main Event starts at 1 PM Saturday, October 8.  The field is limited to 160 and the entry fee is $50.  The format is double elimination, race to 8 on the winner side and 7 on the one loss side.  The finals are a single race to 11.  Hard Times will add a minimum of $4000 guaranteed.

Last year's tournament was full with a waiting list.  Please enter early to secure your spot.  For lodging information and other details, please call Hard Times Billiards at 916-332-8793.
