Lady Billiard Pros to Host Kids Pool Camp

 

Billiard   Professionals   Melissa   Little   of   Denver,   CO   and   Kim   White   of   Houston,   TX,  will team up on Tuesday,  September  25,  2012  in  Houston,  Texas  to  help open  up  the  world  of billiards  to  kids  17   and   under.   The   second   in a   series   of   “Kids   Pool   Camps”    will    be held   at   Bogies   Billiards   &   Sports   Bar   located   at   3040   FM   1960   East,   Suite   101 Houston,   TX, starting at 6:30pm.  These   WPBA   Touring   Professionals   (Women’s  Professional   Billiard Association,   wpba.com)   along   with   www.Str8- ‐Shots.com,   an   online billiard   and   dart   accessories   company,   will   produce   this   event   in   Texas.  Other   cities   in this    series   include   Round     Rock,   TX   and   Denver,   CO,   where   “The   Viper”   Melissa   Little will   team   up   with   fellow   pros   in   order   to   “open   up”   the   exciting   sport   of   billiards   to kids.  A    successful future   for   any   sport is   contingent   upon   the   grass   roots   efforts   of   its forebearers.  “Our   sport depends   on   the   players   of   tomorrow,   the   next   generation,”  says Little.   The   owners of Str8shots.com    along with Melissa  share a passion  for  ensuring  the    sport continues  to  expand  and  in  order  for  that  to  happen  the  industry  needs  to encourage  youth    participation.  “It is sad   when   talent     goes   unnoticed   or   undeveloped   because   resources   are   not   available.  We   are   working   together   to   make   sure   that   young people   have   the   tools   they   need   to   excel   in   the   sport of   billiards”, sentiments offered by Str8shots owners Marc and Kimberly Griffiths.

A   professional   billiard   lesson   can   range   anywhere   from   $50-$100 per hour. Melissa has created   the   “Kids   Pool   Camp”   series   to   be   fun,   educational   and   cost  effective    for parents.   Each   camp  costs  $49.00   per child    and  each child  will  receive a   brand  new  cue stick and  cue  case,  along  with  a  2½ hour   group   billiard   session   with   the   pros. “Pool is not only  fun   and   challenging,   but it helps  build   character   and   self- ‐esteem. It has   many   lessons  to teach”,   says   White.   This   second   camp   will   be   held at   Bogies   Billiards   where   White   has   been   “house   pro”   for   almost 9   years.   Kids   will   enjoy   playing   with   their   new   equipment and   will   compete   for   prizes   donated   by   www.str8- ‐ shots.com.   Bogies’   owner David Richardson   welcomes   and   encourages   families   to   engage   themselves   and   their children   through   billiards.    “We   hope   to  make  this  event a big  success   for  the  kids”,  says Richardson.
