Pool World Loses Another Star

Billiardsdigest.com is reporting the passing of another billiard great.

Billy Joe "Cornbread Red" Burge died of natural causes on Friday, February 13th. Burge, who lived in Prestonsburg Kentucky, is survived by his wife Bernadette, two children and two grand-children.

Burge was named "Pool's Greatest Money Player" in the excellent book written about him by Bob Henning, and was best known for his one-pocket game. Although known more for his life as a hustler, Burge did occasionally play in the famous Johnston City tournaments in the 60s where he was virtually unbeatable.

Burge is the second player to pass in the month of February. 'The Prince of Pool' Larry Lisciotti passed away on Monday February 9th.
