Predator Group To Sponsor New England 9 Ball Series

I am pleased to announce that The Predator Group has just signed a deal to be the lead sponsor of the New England 9 Ball Series for the 2018-2019 and 2019 -2020 seasons. The tour currently has over 550 players and $32,000 added prize money for the 2018-2019 season and with this new deal we hope to expand even further.

The tour will also be partnering with FargoRate to help standardize player handicaps and race charts. FargoRate LLC is a US limited liability company that works in conjunction with CSI (Cue Sports International) to develop and maintain a live, robust system of pocket-billiard player ratings. FargoRate computes worldwide pocket-billiard player ratings called Fargo Ratings. By coupling game win/loss data across local leagues, regions, countries, and continents, FargoRate rates amateur and professional players worldwide on the same scale. FargoRate is already being used successfully in handicapped and unhandicapped tournaments worldwide and is poised to become the future of pool matchups as it relies on scientific data to establish handicaps and match races instead of a tournament director’s intuition. We are in the process of working with Mike Page of FargoRate to develop race charts that will work with the New England 9 Ball Series’ unique format. The new handicap system will go into effect at the 2018-2019 season opener on September 23, 2018.

Any established tour members or new members of known skill level who do not already have an established FargoRate will have their current letter rating converted into an appropriate FargoRate. Any new players of unknown skill level will start at the default starting FargoRate. FargoRates are considered to be established when 200 game (not match) scores are submitted into the system so we ask that players have patience with the system in the beginning. In its 15 years of existence the tour has tried many different handicapping systems and race charts and we feel that once the majority of players become established this will be the fairest way to run a handicapped tournament for all players.

As always I would like to thank all the players, fans, and sponsors for their continued support in making this tour possible.

Sincerely,
CEO New England 9 Ball Series
