Putnam earns first 2004 Viking Win

Shawn Putnam

The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour was at Cornfed Red's in Columbus Ohio with a field of 71 players.

Top seeds at the event included Shawn Putnam who had yet to notch his first tour win this season, as well as last weeks winner Dee Adkins, Hunter Lombardo, Tony Mougey, Shane Manaole, Jamie McWorter and Howard Vickery.

Putnam made his way to the match for the hot-seat, but fell to Dee Adkins 7-5. Putnam could smell the victory though and quickly dispatched Adam Smith 7-2 to earn another shot at Adkins in the true double elimination finals.

The first set went to Putnam 7-1, but Adkins looked like he had the tournament sewn up as he led the final match 6-4. Putnam made his last charge though, and won three straight games to capture the 7-6 victory.

The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour will be releasing more dates on their schedule after the BCA Trade Show in April.
