Rick Pena wins All American Tour Stop 12

The twelfth stop of the 2005/2006 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance ? ACS) featured a $500-added purse and forty-two players hosted by owner Dwaine Bowman at Leisure Time Billiards in E. Moline, Illinois, on Saturday, February 4. The event featured double-elimination 9-ball on 7-foot Valley bar boxes. Rick Pena of Davenport, Iowa ? rated a ?5? on a regional handicap system used - lost early to Blake Byrket 4-3 and ran roughshod through the loser?s bracket to gain a spot in the title match, after eliminating David Coles Jr. [5] (Beloit, WI) 5-4 in the loser?s bracket semifinals and Blake Byrket [4] (Muscatine, IA) 5-3 in the loser?s bracket finals. Pena?s undefeated opponent in the finals was Dave Noble [5] (Sterling, IL) who had previously defeated Blake Byrket 5-3 in the winner?s bracket finals. Having to defeat Dave Noble two sets in the tourney finals, Rick Pena continued his hot hand by out pointing his opponent in two sets ? 5-4, 5-3 ? for the title!

By virtue of also being the highest-finishing ACS member, Rick Pena qualified for a free entry into either the 2006 ACS National 8-Ball Championships or the 2006 ACS National 9-Ball Championships ? courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Silver Cup Chalk, PJ?s Billiard Supply Co. and Samm?s Side Pocket Productions for their support in donating ?Value-In-Kind? product for this and all stops on the McDermott All American Tour. Sponsorship opportunities are still available by contacting the ACS.

The weekend of February 18-19 will feature Billiard Street Cafe in Fridley, MN hosting a $1,000 added 9-ball McDermott All American tour stop (for onsite entry details contact Dean Bradley at 763/574-1399).
