Ron O’Meara Wins All American Tour Iowa Stop

Ron O'Meara Jr.

The tenth stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) featured a $500-added purse and forty-nine players, hosted by owner Terry Anderson at Miller Time Billiards in Davenport, IA, on Saturday, January 6. The event featured double-elimination 8-ball on 7-foot bar boxes, and Ron O'Meara Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa - rated a “5” on a regional handicap system used – marched undefeated to the finals. Ron out shot Rodney Flenoi (Moline, IL) [5] 5-2, while Rich Bideaux (Moline, IL) [5] out slugged Josh Johnson (Bettendorf, IA) [6] 5-3 in the A-side semi-finals. O'Meara [5] then took down Bideaux [5] 5-2 in the A-side finals to take the hot seat. Matches in the B-side bracket leading up to the tourney finals included Josh Johnson [6] stopping Mark Czerwinski (Moline, IL) [4] at 5th place by a 6-1 margin, and Rodney Flenoi [5] eliminating Fred Fechter (Peoria, IL) [4] 5-3, tying Czerwinski with Fechter. In the B-side semi-finals, Rodney Flenoi [5] ousted Josh Johnson [6] 5-4. In turn, Rich Bideaux [5] outpointed Flenoi [5] 5-3 in the B-side finals to gain another shot at O'Meara in the tourney finals. Bideaux [5] clipped Ron O'Meara [5] 5-4 in the first set, but O'Meara – up 4-3 in the deciding set - pulled out a miracle shot to take the title by a 5-3 margin!

By virtue of second-place Rich Bideaux being the highest-finishing ACS member, he qualified for a free singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.
