Day one is complete at the WPBA San Diego Classic and we have already seen a fair number of upsets and close matches. The big match result of the day on Thursday was Michell Monk's 9-7 win over Vivian Villarreal. Karen Corr looked like she would be the victim of a first round loss too, as she trailed Cristina De La Garza 4-1 before coming back to win the match 9-5. Karen went on to win her second match, against Shu-Han Chang, 9-6. Jasmin Ouschan started her day with a dominating 9-2 win over Jennifer Chen, but had her hands full with Julie Kelly who missed a 7-ball at 8-8 that would have won her the match.
Day Two matches will see Chang face off against Miyuki Sakai, Karen Corr taking on Sarah Rousey, Allison Fisher vs Jeanette Lee and Jasmin Ouschan facing Helena Thornfeldt. Thornfeldt is 2-0 so far in the event with back to back 9-3 wins over Ewa Laurance and Val Finnie.
