Schmidt wins first Seminole Florida Stop

John Schmidt

The first stop on the Seminole Florida Pro Tour had a full field of 64 players at Capone's in Springhill Florida and as expected, there was no shortage of top talent vieing for the $7000 in added prize money.

John Schmidt made his way to the match for the hot-seat where he defeated Rodney Morris 9-7. Meanwhile, on the one-loss side, Robb Saez was avenging an earlier loss to Earl Strickland and sending Strickland to the bleachers 9-6.

Saez was not done there, as he then defeated Morris 9-5 to earn his spot in the finals.

Schmidt went way ahead quickly in the final match, but Saez clawed back to cut the deficit to 1 game at 10-9. That was as close as he would get as Schmidt won the next three games for the 13-9 victory.

Schmidt collected $4000 for first place, while Saez settled for $2000 in second place prize money. Morris and Strickland filled out the top four spots.

The Seminole Florida Pro Tour will be at Player's Billiard Club in Melbourne, Florida for their next event on April 24th - 25th.
