Scottish WPBA Player Val Finnie Obtains Touring Professional Status

Val Finnie

Recent Scottish import Val Finnie is the newest Touring Professional on the Women's Professional Billiards Tour (WPBA). At the WPBA National Championships recently held in Lincoln City, Oregon Finnie secured the final number of points required for her to transition from the Semi-Professional level to the Touring Professional level. Finnie completed the WPBA 2006 season with three top ten finishes including another 5th place at the Carolina Classic in Rocky Mount earlier this year.

Obtaining the WPBA designation of Touring-Professional allots Ms. Finnie an invitation to participate in each WPBA Classic Tour stop, thus eliminating her need to continue through the WPBA Regional Qualifier system. The system is conceptualized after the PGA qualifying process.

Now living in Charlotte North Carolina, Finnie came to the United States in 2004 with the quest of playing on the WPBA. By the end of that first year she had placed second in the US Women's Amateur Nationals and was the point leader and de-facto tour champion on the J. Pechauer North East Women's Tour, a regional qualifying tour of the WPBA (JPNEWT).

Finnie is looking forward to 2007 as a Touring Professional. "Without having to travel to qualifiers anymore is a great feeling in its own. My goal now is to secure a top 16 place before the end of next season".
