Senna wins battle of "Riches" to go undefeated on Ride the 9 Tour

Rich Senna and Rich Ross battled twice on the December 16 stop on the Ride the 9 Tour, with Senna winning both battles to claim the event title. The $500-added event drew 38 entrants to Bo's Bar and Billiards in Warwick, RI.

The Riches met first in the hot seat match. Senna had shut out Steve Sutton in one of the winners' side semifinals, as Ross was busy surviving a double hill match against Ty Speedwell in the other. With Ross racing to six, Senna gained the hot seat with a 4-3 victory and waited on his return.

Sutton moved over to face Ranulf Tamba, who'd defeated Paul Linteris 5-1 and Johnny Lach 5-2. Speedwell drew Ryan Lineham, who'd gotten by Van Sy 5-3 and Derrick Morgado, double hill. Speedwell and Sutton, respectively, got right back on the winning track with victories over Lineham, double hill, and Tamba 5-3. With Speedwell racing to six in the quarterfinals that followed, Sutton moved on to the semifinals with a 4-4 win.

With four on the wire to start, Ross downed Sutton double hill in those semifinals and got his second chance against Senna. His lower handicap (two on the wire) and his wait in the hot seat did little to deter Senna's effort. He shut his fellow Rich (Ross) out to secure the event title.
