Shuman gets Mosconi Cup call up

EXPERIENCED AMERICAN referee Ken Shuman has been appointed to officiate at the 18th annual Mosconi Cup, which takes place from 8 - 11 December at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Shuman, 63, has a wealth of experience in the game having been involved for the best part of 50 years as a player, referee and tournament director. He first officiated at the 1985 Reno Open, and since then has been head referee at a host of major events across the USA.
These include IPT tournaments, WPA World Championships and various high ranking competitions. Shuman was last seen in action at the recent US Open as tournament director and he also serves as TD at the Derby City Classic, US Open 10 Ball and Ultimate 10 Ball Championships.
Commented Shuman; "I am deeply humbled and extremely grateful that Matchroom Sport has appointed me to referee at the Mosconi Cup and it is the culmination of a dream I've had since the very first competition back in 1994."
"Officiating on pool's most exciting worldwide stage is, without a doubt, the highest honour a professional referee can receive - now I know how it must feel to reach the summit of Mount Everest," he added.
Shuman will be working alongside Matchroom Sport's Michaela Tabb, who will be officiating at her 15th consecutive Mosconi Cup.
The Mosconi Cup takes place at the MGM Grand from Thursday to Sunday 8-11 December and features two five man teams representing the USA and Europe doing battle over four heated days.
Tables are supplied by Diamond Billiard Products, the cloth is by Simonis, balls are provided by Aramith and the Official Cue is Predator.
Tickets for the Mosconi Cup are priced at $35 per day or $120 for the four day season passes and booking charges will apply.
