Slivka Wins Second Straight Joss Tour Stop

Jerry Sllivka

The Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour was at Trick Shot Billiards & Sports Pub in Clifton Park, NY this weekend with 36 players competing for a $4,880 total prize fund. Notable players in the field included Ryan McCreesh, Jason Michas, Frankie Hernandez, Eric Hjorliefson, John Morra, Bucky Souvanthong, Dan Heidrich and last week's winner Jerry Slivka.

Slivka's hopes for another undefeated run to match last week's run were quickly shot down as he lost a match to Ryan McCreesh early on Saturday. McCreesh remained undefeated until Sunday morning, when he lost to last week's runner-up Jason Michas 9-5. Michas went on to score a hill-hill win over Sean Graham to take the hot-seat.

On the one loss side, Slivka was not giving up the hopes for a repeat win. He started the day with a 9-3 win over Canadian Eric Hjorliefson and then got his revenge on McCreesh with a 9-0 win. Dan Heidrich and Sean Graham were next to fall as Slivka earned his spot in the finals against Michas.

The first set of the true double elimination finals saw Slivka take an early lead and fight off a comeback attempt by Michas for the 9-6 win. The second set was much closer with both players tied at 7-7 before Michas missed a ball during a run-out. That was the chance Slivka needed as he won that game and the next for the 9-7 victory and his second straight Joss NE 9-Ball Tour Stop.

The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will be at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ next weekend for a $2000 added event. Tour director Mike Zuglan is taking entries now for the Turning Stone Classic VIII 9-Ball Open scheduled for February 22nd - 25th, 2007. Interested players can reach Zuglan at 518-356-7163.
