Souquet over Orcollo at Manila Challenge Match

MANILA – Filipino Dennis Orcollo failed to exact vengeance on German Ralf Souquet in the Philippine Bigtime Billiards (PBB) Face Off Series late Saturday here at the PAGCOR Airport Casino in Paranaque City.

Souquet asserted his dominance over Orcollo, 9-6, in the race-to-9 10-ball affair, winner's break format. The event was aired worldwide through the Internet at www.megasportsworld.com, www.starbilliards.com, www.starbilliards.com.ph, as well as through Solar Sports, Sky Channel 70 and Destiny Channel 34 every Saturday.

The German cue artist took home the top prize worth $5,000 in joint undertaking of MegaSportsWorld and BRKHRD Corp in close cooperation with PAGCOR, PCSO, ACCEL, Diamond Table, Predator cues, Simonis cloth, Malungai Life Oil, I-Bar, Human Plus Probiotics, Golden Leaf Restaurant, Hermes Sports, Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) with the Philippine Star as the official media partner.

Orcollo, meantime received $2,500.

Souquet, who is called the "Kaiser", led the match 5-0 and 6-3, before Orcollo, known as "Robocop" rallied at the end to get within two racks at 7-5. From there, Souquet won two of the next three racks enroute to the 9-6 victory.

"Luck was on my side until the end," said the former World 9-ball and 8-ball Champion Souquet, who beat World no.1 and World 8-Ball Champion Orcollo, 8-5, in the World Pool Masters finals last September in Manila.

"I did my best but Ralf still emerged better,” said Orcollo, top player of the star-studded Bugsy Promotions. "I looked forward to play against Ralf again in the future," added the former fisherman from Bislig, Surigao del Sur.

The organizing committe MegaSportsWorld and BRKHRD Corp said another one more time match-up between Souquet and Orcollo slated next year.

Souquet's next opponent will be Up-and-coming billiards star Carlo "The Black Tiger" Biado on November 12, Saturday at 9 pm in the same venue dubbed as "The Prince versus The Emperor".

Other matches are scheduled pitting Ronato Alcano vs Daryl Peach of Great Britain (Nov.19) and Francisco "Django" Bustamante vs Peach (Nov.26).
