On the weekend of August 6-7, the Omega Billiards Tour was hosted by Wizards in Richardson, Texas.   The staff and owners treated the players well with great service and an amazing atmosphere.  Sixteen tables allowed us to open the filed up to 102 players!  New record of attendees for the Omega Billiards Tour!

Sharik Sayed from Missouri planned a trip to see his friends the same weekend as the Omega Tour to be able to hang out with them and also play some pool.  And play pool he did!  Sharik started his tourney streak with wins over Stevie Collins 8-0, Andrew Talton 8-3, Ruben Juarez 8-2, Jeff Georges hill-hill, CJ Wiley 8-6, and Daniel McAdams 8-2 before finding himself fighting for the hot seat against Rick Stanley.  Rick had wins over Phillipe Tieu 8-4, Robin Barbour 8-2, Anthony Schaeffer hill-hill, Mike Voelkering 8-5 and Curtis Cardwell 8-3 before meeting up with Sharik.
In the hostseat match it was anyone’s game but Sharik came out on top 8-4 over Rick.

After CJ Wiley lost to Sharik Sunday morning, he then defeated Douglas Pitts 9-5, Joel Betancourth 9-0, Curtis Cardwell 9-3, Mike Voelkering 9-4 and then Rick Stanley 9-4 to earn his spot in the finals with Sharik!

The finals started off close but then Sharik pulled ahead to win the final match with a score of 8-5 to capture his first Omega Billiards Tour stop!  Big congrats to Sharik going undefeated!  Congrats to CJ Wiley for his great 2nd place finish, to Rick Stanley for his highest finish yet with 3rd place, and to Mike Voelkering for a great finish in 4th place!

After Chris (Woody) Smith lost to Crispian earlier, he then went on to defeat Jake Hulsey 7-1, CJ Wiley 7-3, Mike Voelkering 7-4, and Alberto Nieto 7-2.  Woody then met up with Norman Small in the semi-finals and it was a great hill-hill thriller!  Norman would come out on top and find himself in the finals!  Woody would finish his highest finish to date (3rd) and played great all weekend!

The finals was another great match for the fans and it would be yet another hill-hill nail biter!  It was Crispian’s break and he made a ball on the break and then ran out the hill-hill case game and captured his first Omega title for 2016!  Big congrats to Crispian going undefeated!  Norman would have his highest finish yet with 2nd place and we’ll see him soon back in the finals.  Congrats to both Norman and Woody for their fantastic finishes!

4th place was filled by Alberto Nieto, 5th/6th places were filled by Roman Bayda  and Mike Voelkering, and 7th/8th places were filled by CJ Wiley and Omar Bengochea.

Stevie Collins Snags His First Omega Billiards Tour Title

Stevie Collins

On the weekend of February 20-21, the Omega Billiards Tour was hosted by The Billiard Den in Richardson, Texas.   The staff and owners treated the players well with great service and an amazing atmosphere, and we very much appreciate each and every one of them!

We were able to extend the field to 88 players for this second stop of the 2016 season.  And it was tough to predict who would come out on top with all the talent in the field.

Always a top contender, Crispian Ng, had a great tournament with tough matches over Chase LaFerney 7-5, teammate Robin Barbour 7-5, Alberto Nieto 7-4, Jim Colling 7-5 and best friend David Josephson 7-5.  Stevie Collins was fighting through the bottom half of the bracket with wins over Kyle Rowland 7-0, Chris Smith hill-hill, George Merchan 7-2, Ian Perez 7-1, and Anthony Schaeffer 7-2 before finding Crispian in the hotseat.  Crispian would win another close one in the hotseat match over Stevie by a score of 7-5.

Gerardo Perez would place his highest finish with an impressive 3rd place!  He lost his second match hill-hill then won TEN matches in a row to meet up the Stevie Collins in the Semi-Final match.   Stevie would win 7-3 to find a spot in the finals, but a HUGE congrats to Gerardo for his fine play all weekend.  Denny Sneed placed high again in the Omega with a 4th place finish, with David Josephson and Anthony Schaeffer both placed their highest finish with 5th/6th places out of 88 players.  Special shout out to George Merchan for placing 7th/8th (his highest finish to date) and to Ian Perez for his 9th place finish in his first Omega Tour event.

The finals were a tough, tough battle between Stevie Collins and Crispian Ng.  Crispian is a BCAPL Nationals 9-Ball Champion and Stevie Collins is also a top player (and this was his home pool room).  Both players wanted the win badly and it showed. First set went a thrilling hill-hill with Stevie never giving up, forcing a second set.  Then the second set went hill-hill again!  Stevie continued his great play and ran out 7 balls to win the game, the match, the finals, and the tournament!  His first Omega Billiards Tour win!  Congratulations also to Crispian for fighting hard all weekend for his second place finish.  He’s always hard on himself, but he played so good all weekend and deserves lots of kudos as well.

Congrats to ALL the players and fans for a great event!

A HUGE thank you goes out to our sponsors Omega Billiards Supply, Predator Cues, BCAPL/CSI, and OB Cues.  We would also like to give a big thanks to our additional sponsors, Irving Ink and Thread, AZBilliards.com, Pool School, and BilliardsPress.com.

Greg Sandifer Wins Again at Fifth Omega Billiards Stop

Greg Sandifer, Carl Bodker and Kirit Patel

On the weekend of May 30-31, the Omega Billiards Tour was honored to play at a new location, Fox and Hound in Dallas, Texas.   With two large separate areas to play in, great food, wonderful atmosphere, and great staff, the Omega Tour players already can’t wait to play here next year.  Shout-out to Zach and all the staff for making us feel so welcomed!

Who would win this event? On Sunday – there were a lot of new faces vying for first place, and some familiar.    There would be SEVERAL highest-yet high finishes by many players.  In the end, recently crowned BCAPL Texas State Champion, Greg Sandifer, would eventually win the $,1,500-added event with 80 players.

Greg Sandifer had his hands full all weekend and defeated James Dye 7-0, Gary Pope 7-4, Robert Kempf 7-3, Curtis Cardwell 7-5, Carl Bodeker 7-0 and then Kirit Patel 7-4 for a spot in the finals.  Who would Greg play in the finals?  Carl Bodeker!  Carl’s good luck charm was in attendance (his daughter) and it gave him additional drive and focus.  Carl defeated Joseph Pruitt 7-2, Ethan Townsend 7-2, Monica Anderson 7-0, Crispian Ng 7-5, and  Nick Conner 7-1 before getting sent to the one-loss side by Greg.

From there, Carl didn’t give up and he defeated Crispian Ng 7-4, Curtis Cardwell 7-2, and Kirit Patel 7-5 for a spot in his first finals on the Omega Billiards Tour!

In 9th-12th places, Bobby Martinez, Kyle Rowland and Steve Singleton placed their highest finish yet on the Tour!  They were joined by Anthony Schaeffer.  7th/8thwas filled by Jake Hulsey (local cuemaker and also his highest finish yet) along with 2014 Tour Champion, Nick Conner.  5th/6th was filled by Crispian Ng and Ricky Carpenter (his highest finish, also).  4th place was filled by Curtis Cardwell who was the one who took down most of the higher ranked players all weekend.  He placed his highest finish so far on the tour also.  And not yet done – Kirit Patel placed an impressive 3rd and he also placed his highest finish yet.  And with Carl in the finals – it was already his highest finish yet on the Omega Tour, as well!

Carl won the first set in the finals against Greg 7-4.  Carl was playing great!  While Car’s daughter might have been in attendance, Greg’s son had a birthday that weekend and therefore he also had inspiration.  Greg played fantastic the second set and came back to win the entire event with a score of 7-5 in the second set of the finals!  Both players played really good in the finals and it was a treat for all the fans who were there watching their impressive play.

Congrats’ to ALL the players for a great event!

A HUGE thank you goes out to our sponsors Omega Billiards Supply, Predator Cues, Poison Break Cues, BCAPL/CSI, and Lucasi and Players Cues.  We would also like to give a big thanks to our additional sponsors, Hulsey Custom Cues, OB Cues, Irving Ink and Thread, Pro Billiard Service, AZBilliards.com, Billiards Digest, and BilliardsPress.com.
